1:15 – 2:15, Language Services in Public Schools

The number of students with Limited English Proficiency is about 20% statewide and is even higher in the Austin area. It is required by law to provide families certain materials, such as school publications and special education documents, in their native language. Many school districts go even further and offer additional a la carte services. With such a high demand, how are schools meeting this need? Join us for this webinar to learn more about what language services look like in schools, what types of jobs are available, and what skills are needed to be a successful school translator or interpreter. This session’s presenter, Kendra Dean, has a Master’s in Spanish Translation and Interpreting from UT Brownsville and has been working in language services in public schools for five years.

We will share the Zoom information closer to the date.
