International Translation Day

Jennifer Rose Davis

Let’s celebrate International Translation Day!

Join us this Sunday, September 29th, to celebrate International Translation Day at Malvern Books from 4:00 to 6:00pm with a presentation by Jennifer Rose Davis at 4:15pm, followed by a reception.

Jennifer translated, costumed and directed the current production of Cyrano de Bergerac playing at the Austin Scottish Rite Theatre,  with her last performance being this Sunday. She is going to talk about her translation of the play.

“I wrote this translation of CYRANO DE BERGERAC because I wanted to retell this story that speaks deeply to the modern psyche in its portrayal of loneliness and longing, in language that also spoke to the modern ear. There is an incredible richness of humor and depth of feeling in Edmond Rostand’s play that I feel is often lost in translation and I was determined to capture it. I wanted to help a new generation of people fall in love with the passion and poetry of this beautiful story”

We will also acknowledge a member of our community who has contributed so much to our association and profession with the Harvey Jordan Fedora Award. This is a sample of appreciation to the work done and the continual efforts to helping us and positioning the profession of translators and interpreters alike.

We truly hope you can join us!
