Join AATIA as we celebrate International Translation Day on September 26, 2026!
This event will feature a musical performance by The Therapy Sisters (including AATIA’s own Maurine McLean), a presentation by author and literary translator Rebecca Bowman, and an array of delectable brunch foods.
About our presenter

Rebecca Bowman was born in Los Angeles but lived for many years in Mexico. She has won grants from the Mexican Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA) and the State Council for the Arts and Culture of Tamaulipas and was awarded the Juan B. Tijerina State Prize for Short Story, the State Prize for Short Story awarded by the Mexican Social Security Institute (ISSSTE) and the Manuel Acuña International Playwriting Prize. Her books include Los ciclos íntimos, La vida paralela, Horas de visita, Unfinished Business and Other Stories, Portentos de otros años, Lugar de aguas, Abro la ventana, and a new novel, El factor humano. She has translated book-length poetry, fiction and non-fiction and is the founder of Bric-a-Brac Press, a small independent publisher of books in Spanish, English and both languages.
This event is free and open to anyone with an interest in translation and/or interpretation, but we need a head count to organize the refreshments, so we are asking everyone who plans to attend to rsvp by September 23rd.
