Networking and the court system – join us for our Nov 14th general meeting

We’ll hold our last meeting of 2020 on Saturday, November 14, from 12 to 2:30 p.m. We will, of course, be meeting via Zoom. You’ll find connection details below.

We’ll spend the first half of the meeting networking. Multiple “rooms” will be available for members to split up and discuss a variety of subjects. For the second half, we’ll be joined by Briana Stone, an attorney, who will give us an overview of the US court system at the federal and state level, including how each handles translation and interpretation rights.

Briana Stone is a civil justice attorney in the Legal Access Division of the State Bar of Texas and also leads the Texas Access to Justice Commission’s efforts to advance language access in Texas courts. Before coming to the State Bar in 2013, Briana was the Director of the Texas Civil Rights Project’s El Paso branch and a staff attorney at Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid (TRLA) in Austin. She focused on civil and disability rights and dabbled in employment, immigration, special education, and juvenile justice law.
