Applications are now open for the 2025 Harvie Jordan Scholarship. This annual $500 scholarship honors Harvie Jordan, one of AATIA’s founders and a passionate advocate for translators and interpreters. The scholarship is based on financial need and a demonstrated commitment to attaining a license or certification in the field of interpretation or translation.

This year, the Harvie Jordan Committee is proud to offer the 2025 Harvie Jordan Scholarship to two qualified applicants — one specializing in spoken language and one in signed language. One $500 award will be given to an emerging spoken language interpreter or translator, and the other $500 to an emerging signed language interpreter.

The scholarship is open to individuals who plan to take their first translation or interpreting performance exam, whether written, oral, or signed, within the next 12 months, with the exam to be completed by August 2026. Eligible applicants must currently reside in Austin, Travis County, or the surrounding areas.

Applications close October 1, 2025.

Please note: The application form is a Google form that can only be accessed by logging in to a Gmail account. If you wish to apply and do not have a Gmail account, please contact Maria Nelson at president@aatia.org.

Funded through community support

By investing in the next generation of translators and interpreters, the Harvie Jordan
Scholarship helps ensure a strong future for the language professions. The Scholarship is entirely donor-funded. Please consider making a donation to the Harvie Jordan Fund so that we can continue to support up-and-coming language professionals
