AATIA’s Donation to the American Foundation for Translation and Interpretation (AFTI) for the Harvie Jordan Scholarship
AATIA is pleased to have donated $700 from its own funds to replenish the Harvie Jordan Scholarship Fund managed by AFTI. The Harvie Jordan Scholarship promotes, encourages, and supports leadership and professional development of translators and interpreters within ATA’s Spanish Language Division and to honor Harvie Jordan’s lifetime contributions as a language professional.
Founded in 1997, the American Foundation for Translation and Interpretation (AFTI) supports charitable activities, education, and research in support of the translation and interpreting professions. AFTI promotes this objective by bestowing awards and scholarships, as well as sponsoring conference attendance and presentations. AFTI is a 501(c)(3) foundation affiliated with the American Translators Association.
Harvie was one of the three founders of AATIA and held various positions on the association’s Board of Directors through the years. He died in 2002.
