ATA conference program now available
The program for the 60th Annual Conference of the American Translators Association (ATA) is now online. This year’s conference will be held in Palm Springs, California, October 23-26. Several pre-conference courses will be offered on the 23rd and the conference itself will get under way on the 24th. Sessions will be offered in various languages on a wide array of topics. Several sessions will focus on tips and techniques for passing the ATA certification exam, and two certification exam sittings will be held during the conference (exam sittings require separate registration – see the ATA website for more information).
There will also be numerous side events during the conference, including a dictionary exchange and a job fair. First-time attendees (“newbies“) may be paired with a “buddy” – someone who has attended numerous previous conferences, who will introduce the newcomer to colleagues and provide advice on how to get the most out of the conference.
ATA-certified translators will earn one continuing education point for each hour attended, up to a maximum of 10 points. Interpreters, including court interpreters licensed by JBCC, may earn CE credit for attending some sessions.
Register before September 13th to get the early-bird discount. ATA membership is not required to attend the conference, but the registration fee is significantly lower for ATA members.
