Blockbuster meeting planned for March 12th

Those who attend our general meeting on March 12th are in for a real treat!

Rita Pavone, a certified crisis management specialist and Core Certification Healthcare Interpreter, will kick off our program with a presentation on navigating the pitfalls of mental health interpreting, including information about some easily misunderstood mental conditions and how to establish boundaries and maintain professionalism when interpreting for someone with such a condition.

Next, longtime AATIA member Patricia Thickstun de Ribes will interview fellow longtime member Frederick (Fritz) Hensey about his career as a translator, interpreter and professor of Spanish, Portuguese, and linguistics at the University of Texas. Both Hensey and Thickstun were present at AATIA’S charter meeting in December 1985.

And as the grand finale, Maurine McLean and Lisa Rogers, The Therapy Sisters, will serenade us with some songs specially chosen for the occasion.
