ATA Certification Online Exam Registration Now Open
Registration for online exams for translators seeking certification by the American Translators Association (ATA) is now open. ATA members can register here. After you register, you will be emailed instructions on how to schedule your exam. You have 30 days from the time you register to schedule and take the online exam. The exam is open only to ATA members, so you must join ATA before registering for the exam.
ATA certification offers qualified and independent evidence that a translator possesses professional competence in a specific language combination. It recognizes translators with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality translation.
The exam is challenging and is intended for translators who have acquired some solid professional experience, not beginners. The registration fee is substantial (currently $525), and the pass rate is low (around 20%). ATA therefore strongly recommends that candidates take a practice test in order to gauge their readiness to take the actual exam.
