Our general meeting program will feature a presentation by accountants Iain Howe and David Romero on tax and accounting issues and other business matters for freelancers and a presentation by Michael Blumenthal on St. Jerome, who is considered the patron saint of translators. International Translation Day, also known as St. Jerome Day, is celebrated on his feast day.
The meeting will be held at the usual place, Best Western Plus Austin City Hotel, 2200 S I H 35, Austin, TX 78704, from 1 to 4 p.m.
If you are planning to attend, you are invited to submit questions in advance for Iain and David to answer during their presentation. However,
please submit only tax and accounting questions of a general nature, not questions about your personal tax situation. Questions may be e-mailed to

Our International Translation Day celebration will be held at Malvern Books, 613 W 29th St, Austin, TX 78705. We’ll start off with a reception for AATIA members and guests, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and then we’ll be treated to readings by renowned literary translators Marian Schwartz and Philip Boehm. The event will also feature the presentation of the first annual “Fedora” AATIA Lifetime Service Award.
