LitSIG meets Saturday, December 4 for Q&A and Member Readings

Please join us via Zoom on Saturday, December 4 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. for our last meeting of the year.

This time, instead of workshopping an individual project, our meeting will consist of two parts. We’ll begin with an open Q & A period about literary translation, followed by short readings from recent projects by LitSIG members.

Q & A:

Marian Schwartz (and I hope, others too!) will be on hand to answer questions about anything having to do with the nuts and bolts of literary translation. This is a great opportunity for all, whether experienced or just starting out, to share knowledge and clear up doubts about pitching a project, translation rights, editors, publishing logistics, resources, and more.

Feel free to send me your questions ahead of time and I’ll share with Marian, or you may bring them to the session.

Readings:

It’s a literary potluck! You are invited to share a brief excerpt from a literary translation you’ve worked on over this past year or two. We’ll devote the latter part of our meeting to short readings (five minutes or so, give or take, depending on how many of you sign up) by fellow LitSIG members.

Bring a paragraph or two, a poem, maybe even a song to share! Please contact me directly to sign up if you’re interested in participating, so I’ll have an idea about how much time to allot. The more of you, the merrier! All languages are welcome, as always.

Looking forward to seeing you (and listening to you) in a few weeks!
