Join us for AATIA general meeting on July 9th
Beat the heat and join us this coming Saturday, July 9th, for an interesting afternoon with your AATIA colleagues in the air-conditioned comfort of the Austin City Hotel. Our July general meeting will feature presentations by translator, interpreter trainer and AATIA founder Esther Diaz and biomechanics and movement specialist Shannon Rashap.
Esther will tell us about a language access audit conducted by the City of Austin earlier this year, which revealed that, “while the City has made efforts to provide language assistance services to Austin residents, the City may not be meeting the needs of all residents.” Find out what the City and several community-based organizations are doing to address these findings.
Shannon, a biomechanics and movement specialist from Clear Point Wellness, will show us some postural tips and some stretches to avoid deep vein thrombosis and other body issues associated with prolonged sitting. Be ready to move (if you want to – not required if you’d rather sit back and watch while sipping a cool beverage!) and come with questions if there is a place you feel fatigue or pain after work.
We’ll get under way at 1 p.m. at 2200 S Interstate 35 (NW corner of E. Oltorf and I35), Austin, TX 78704. See you on Saturday!
